Our clients came to us searching for a solution to the floods which wreaked havoc on the backyard each spring, and periodically throughout the year.

We resolved this issue by adjusting the site's grades to direct excess water toward an engineered low-point which we generated into a rain garden (bioswale). This rain garden absorbs excess runoff from the clients’ house and their adjacent neighbors’ properties by using a programmed grade and soil mix that is complimented with a mixture of native perennials. The perennials' root systems enhance infiltration, moisture redistribution, and diversify microbial populations, all to the benefit of the ecosystem.

The result creates an aesthetically appealing garden throughout the year that can cut down the amount of pollution reaching creeks and streams by up to 30%, while also preventing any future flooding.
